Jarrett’s Play Moves Teammates; “He’s An All-Star,” Say Hulls

CHICAGO— Doug Jarrett may have eaten himself into stardom. The Black Hawks’ big rearguard, who has been tabbed for stardom almost from the time he reported to the Hawks midway in the 1964-65 season, appears, at last. to be reaching his potential in his fifth full season in the National Hockey league. “Sure hope you’re considering Jarrett for an All-Star vote’. said Bobby Hull recently. “He’s making it this year. Both my dad and I picked him as a sure All-Star the first time we saw him play as a junior at St. Catharines ans he’s finally coming around”. Bobby’s brother Dennis was quick to agree. “Doug is doing everything right this year”. Dennis said. “He’s handling the puck better than ever, skating hard, hitting the way he can. and staying up on the…

Sanderson Faces Uphill Fight To Unseat Bruin Pivots

“You like 7up 7up likes you” BOSTON— It’s popular to call him the happy bachelor of Boston. And it is a fact that he is a happy young man. That’s his nature more than it is style. But there is a facet about this young man that demands a little more attention. It’s his ability to play hockey. We are referring,…if no one guessed…to Derek Sanderson. The “Turk’, as he is called by his teammates, just may be one of the most underrated hockey players in the NHL. The fact also is that he may always be one of the most underrated hockey players in professional ranks simply because he is playing with a group of individuals who dominate the headlines. For example, Sanderson is a center. Ahead of him in that position are Phil Esposito…

New Line Brings Seattle Back Into Race As McVie, Schmautz, Meehan Lift Totems

Save $$$$$$ Subscribe To The HOCKEY NEWS Receive 35 Issues At Home For The Best In Hockey Reading It’s HOCKEY PICTORIAL Hockey’s Most Exciting Publication SEATTLE— As the New Year approached, the Seattle Totems—much like the Vancouver Canucks—already had played two distinctly separate Western Hockey League seasons. The first one was enough to make Coach Bill Mac-Farland, who’s also an attorney, think about a fulltime career of battles in courtrooms rather than in ice rinks. The Totems won just six and lost 12 of their first 18 games and appeared a pretty risky bet to even make the playoffs. The next season was just dandy, thank you. In 15 games leading up to New Year’s Eve, the Totems won 10, lost only 4 and tied one. Suddenly, they were only four points out of second place, 11…
