Power Play Lone Bright Spot As Wall Finds Scoring Magic
LOS ANGELES— One of the few bright spots in the first five weeks of the Los Angeles’ Kings third season has been the power play, especially as performed by Bob Wall. The little defenseman has four goals, all on powerplays. The Kings scored on 12 of their 45 powerplay opportunities in their first 13 games, which was the second-best record in the West and the fourth best in the entire NHL. St. Louis led the West and the NHL with 21 in 71 chances at that point. Boston with 17 for 66 and Detroit with 15 for 65 topped the Eastern Division. In their first two seasons, the Kings scored on only 64 out of 472 power-play chances, which figures out to be about once every seven or eight times. Currently, they are converting…
