Gill Winning Rave Notices For Super Netminding Job

HERSHEY — It’s been quite a spell since lit-tie Andre Gill has been in the headlines. But the Hershey goaltender is reaping the ink these days with his stellar play. The 27-year-old Sorel, Que., product is off to his finest start since the 1966-67 season when he came out of nowhere to win the Hap Holmes Memorial Trophy as the American League’s top goalie. That season Gill was pegged as the back-up man for Claude Dufour. However, Dufour suffered an eye injury, the ailment eventually ending a brilliant career. In stepped Gill and in Cinderella fashion, he backstopped the Bears to the Eastern Division championship. Once again this season it appeared that Gill would be relegated to a relief role behind big John Henderson, who turned in a great campaign in 1968-69 to aid…
