Salem Rebels Hunting For New Coach As Lucas Quits To Take Up Scouting

SALEM, Va.— Dave Lucas finally has made his decision and the Salem Rebels are now in the market for a new coach for the 1966-1970 Eastern Hockey League campaign. Lucas has decided to take a scouting job with the Pittsburgh Penguins in the’National League and thus has dropped his job of coaching the Rebels, a post he held for the two campaigns of the club’s existence. His job will cover scouting the Montreal area, evaluating junior players in Montreal and Quebec City. “My job will be scouting kids in their last year of junior hockey, Dave said. “I’ll work about six months of the year and thus I’ll be away from my Ontario farm just as much as I was during my days in the EHL.” Lucas said, “It was really a tough decision…
