Penguins Welcomed All-Star Break, “We’re Tired Club,” Says Sully

PITTSBURGH. Pa. — If ever a team needed a breather in the schedule it was the Pittsburgh Penguins during the All-Star break. The Penguins have been struggling to get out of the National Hockey League’s Western Division cellar most of the year. And just when it looked like they’d make it for good, they embarked on their longest road trip. When it was over, after five, games in seven nights, Pittsburgh was still in last place — although not alone — and trailed fourth place by six points. They won just one of the five games and towards the end of the trip it was evident that fatigue had taken its toll. It wasn’t simply the strain of the travelling from Boston to Oakland. But the situation was compounded by a series of casualties…
