For a fellow who missed 22 games last season with a lung infection, Oakland Seals’ Billy Hicke has been breathing pretty good lately. The onetime Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers’ castoff personally took charge last week as the Seals continued to be a hit on the ice although being a marked flop at the gate. With Hicke leading the way the Seals moved into second place in the Western Division last week with wins over Philadelphia Flyers and the then Eastern Division leaders, Boston Bruins. The diminutive right winger snapped a 1-1 tie against the Flyers with his 10th goal of the campaign at 12:29 of the third period, and the marker carried the Seals to a 2-1 victory. Bisons, Clippers Knock Heads On Ice

BALTIMORE. Md. — Ever since the Baltimore Clippers entered the American Hockey League in 1962 most hockey buffs have regarded their Expressway Series with the Hershey Bears as one of the loop’s chief rivalries. Not so this year. After but three games, it has become quite apparent that Baltimore’s newest foes are the Buffalo Bisons — 18 players, some members of the hierarchy and a fistful of fans. So far. a total of 199 penalty minutes have been meted out to members of both clubs. Included in this rash of infractions are two match penalties (Ron Attwell of the Bisons and John Arbour of the Clippers); and three ten minute misconducts (Billy Knibbs and Bob Ash of Buffalo, and Baltimore’s Willie Marshall).
