Crozier Draws Raves From ‘Brass’ For Net Efforts
DETROIT, Mich.— Roger Crozier, a carpenter when he retired for 2/1/2 months last season, is playing as though he has boarded up the Red Wings net. The 26-year-old goalie has been Detroit’s outstanding player in the first five ga-games of the 1968-69 season and Red Wings officials are hoping he can lead the club back to a playoff berth. Although the Wings have won only two games, Crozier’s goaltending has kept the team close in each contest and was the difference in the two victories. The young netminder has played all five games, allowing just 15 goals. In defeat against Montreal, Crozier played his finest game, stopping 38 shots, including a penalty shot by Claude Provost. “I haven’t seen Roger any better in three years,” said General Manager Sid Abel. “He made so many great…

It will be interesting to see where this formula takes them this season and in following seasons, when younger teams begin to mature and develop. However, you take your laurels where you can get them, and the Blues already have had the distinct honor of having been the first expansion team to gain…
Cat Takes Pains To Show Geoffrion Man In Charge
NEW YORK, N.Y.— Those observers who thought that new Ranger Coach Bernie “Boom Boom” Geoffrion would have the small, but dominant figure of General Manager Emile “The Cat” Francis looking over his shoulder at every step of the way, have been amazed at the way the New York leaders have handled the changeover of command. Francis has gone out of his way to show that while he has the overall authority for the rise or downfall of the Rangers, Geoffrion is the coach in every respect. He evens sits way up in the press box in the new Madison Square Garden Center and while he is available to and helpful with the press, it is Geoffrion who runs the pre-game and post-game press interviews. And it is Geoffrion who has proven amazingly…
