Jersey Devils, Nashville’s Flyers Locked In ‘Showdown’ For EHL Title
CHERRY HILL N.J.— Neither the Jersey Devils nor the Nashville Dixie Flyers permitted some disturbing occurrences to affect their play as the teams advanced to the finals of the Eastern Hockey League playoffs. Nashville’s advance was expected as was its 4-1 elimination of the Charlotte Checkers in the Southern finals. Jersey’s appearance in the round of two was a surprise and was accomplished with an upset 4-2 triumph over regular season Northern king Clinton. It might have been expected that the sale of the Nashville team in the midst of the Charlotte series would have some adverse effect on the club.
