Bassen’s Play In Hornets’ Net Could Mean AHL Title For Wasps

The recall of George Gardner by the Detroit Red Wings and the assignment of veteran Hank Bassen to Pittsburgh may be that little bit of an edge the Hornets need to win the coveted cup in their final AHL fling. The transaction marked the second time this season that the Hornets lost a goaltender who was leading the league with the lowest goals against mark. Last December Joe Daley switched jobs with Gardner, Daley going to Memphis and Gardner joining the Hornets. When Daley left the club he had a 2.72 goals against mark in 16 games.
