Tulsa’s Problems Compounded By Leaky Defense
TULSA, Okla.— Tulsa Oilers found it tough sledding in the early games of the Central Professional Hockey League schedule and were only able to show three victories and four ties in their first 15 outings. They were averaging less than three goals a game but coach Rudy Migay believed that all would come back to winning form once he was able to get some help at the center spot and another defenseman. Marc Reaume, the only veteran rearguard has been carrying the heavy load and rookie Jim McKenny has been having trouble adjusting to the pro style. Giacomin Surprise Performer
NEW YORK, N.Y.— The New York Rangers have long suffered from goaling problems. It has become one of the club’s occupational hazards. Even this season, there were rumblings that the problem had not been resolved to the club’s liking. Neither Cesare Maniago nor Ed Giacomin appeared to be up to the challenge. But manager-coach Emile Francis, who was instrumental in bringing the acrobatic Giacomin to the NHL two years ago from Providence of the AHL, was being tolerant.
