Nashville Flyers Crowned Champions, Win Eleven Straight In Title Playdowns
COMMACK, N.Y.— There were no surprises in the preliminary rounds of the Eastern Hockey League playoffs for Nashville and Long Island, the two clubs who were picked as most likely to reach the finals, did so as predicted. However, Nashville’s feat of winning the EHL playoff title in four straight games over the Ducks was indeed a shocker. Nashville didn’t lose a game, breezing to a rout of Knoxville in three games and following it up with a 4-0 romp over Charlotte. Such outcomes weren’t forecast by the most optimistic experts although the Dixie Flyers were clicking beautifully in their final three games of the regular season. They carried this great play over into the playoffs. Long Island meantime also had a picnic. First they took their bitter rivals, New Haven, to the cleaners…

He said he will give the coaching job a lot of thought in the next few weeks. “I was given a vote ot confidence and was told I could coach if I so desired,” he said. “They have been more than fair.” “I’ll admit it has been more than frustrating at times this season,”…
New NHL Teams Warned For Acts Of Tampering
MONTREAL, Que. Incoming National Hockey League teams have been told to keep hands off present NHL officials and players or suffer the consequences. NHL President Clarence Campbell says he has forwarded a letter, a set of League bylaws and a warning telegram to the six new franchise holders outlining the dangers of tampering with personnel currently under contract to the six existing clubs. Campbell said his action was taken as the result of three reports of tampering which had reached his office, but which still “remain to be documented.” The NHL will expand to a two-division, 12-team league for the 1967-68 season. The league president said his letter was “just a general observation” but the telegram was the result of specific incidents. “The overtures were made to non-playing personnel,” Campbell added. He refused to identify the new…
