WATERLOO, la. Rochester’s Mustangs picked up two points in their struggle for a berth in the United States Hockey League playoffs. They did it without even seeing ice, as USHL Commissioner Hal Trumble announced awarding of a forfeit to the Mustangs of the game with Fox Valley originally scheduled at Rochester on January 29. Fleming New Big League ‘Bad Man’

MONTREAL, Que.— Reg Fleming of New York became the National League’s new ‘bad man’ as he led the penalty parade with 166 minutes, including 53 minors, six majors, two 10 - minute misconducts and one game misconduct. He was assessed 124 minutes with New York and 42 minutes with Boston before being traded in mid-season. The Rangers were also team leaders in penalties with 894 minutes, total penalty minutes for the 210 games this season was 4.995, the lowest total in three seasons. Roger Crozier of Detroit led the shutout parade among goal-tenders for the second straight season as he recorded seven shutouts, one more than last season. Americans Inability To Handle Aces Causing Crozier Concern For Playoffs

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — “Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown.” Old Willie Shakespeare scribbled that line in his King Henry IV, but it certainly is applicable to Joe Crozier I, too. Joe Crozier is the not-so-happy general manager and coach of the Rochester Americans, who will open defense of their American Hockey League Calder Cup championship next Wednesday either in Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens or in Quebec City’s Coliseum. Why is the head, wearing the crown uneasy? Because the Quebec Aces have handled the Amerks pretty easily this season, a far cry from last season when the clubs again won their respective divisions. Bucyk Voted ‘Best’ Bruin

BOSTON, Mass. Johnny Bucyk, who has enjoyed a fine second half of the season to make this his most productive scoring season, has been voted the Elizabeth C. Dufresne Trophy for the second time … The trophy was awarded by Boston’s hockey writers and broadcasters for outstanding performance in home games … Bucyk won the trophy in 1962-63 when he scored 27 goals … Previously Bucyk had been voted the gallery gods Eddie Shore award as the team’s Most Valuable Player … Teddy Green went home, driving to Winnipeg.
