WHL Teams Whittle Down East’s Game Edge
VICTORIA B.C. The first East-West interlocking schedule is nearing its completion with Western Hockey League teams wishing they could go on for another few weeks. At their present hot pace, WHL teams would be in front of their American Hockey League counterparts instead of tralling them over the 72-game program. For example, last week the WHL teams came through with three victories for the second successive week cutting sharply into the AHL’s one-time big game edge. But time has run out on the WHL. With Buffalo Bisons, the lastplace AHL team, slated to move into Victoria for the final game of the East-West action against the runner-up Victoria Maple Leafs of the WHL, the Western teams will likely end the season five games in arrears of the AHL clubs.
