New York hockey fans haven’t been treated to too many scoring outbursts this season since the Rangers have been more potent on the road than at home. But last Sunday night the followers of the Manhattan Blues had plenty to cheer about as captain Bob Nevin came up with a five-point performance and a well-earned ‘hat trick.’ Nevin, the ex-Toronto Leaf who had to go to New York to make it big in the NHL, has become the Rangers leading point man and goal scorer through the first 30 games of the season. The Rangers’ new ice leader shot three goals and set up two others to help salvage a lost week for the New Yorkers, who had dropped all three starts before clicking on home ice to spill the Bruins 6-4.…

Veteran Joins 5th AHL Team

PROVIDENCE, R.I. At 35, and in his 18th season as a professional, Dave Creighton joined his fifth American Hockey League club when the Baltimore Clippers traded him to the Providence Reds for Ed MacQueen. Creighton, who opened his career with the Hershey Bears, later played with Rochester and Buffalo, and was with Boston, Toronto, Chicago and New York in the National League. The balding centre, who makes his off-season home in Burlington, Ont., where he is in the contracting business and operates several apartment houses, is one of the most popular players in the league. He is rarely penalized, and his highest penalty time came in 1961-62 when he captained the Buffalo Bisons and drew 54 minutes. The Bisons won the Calder Cup that season. Creighton spent three full seasons with the Clippers, and had…
