Rangers Eye Olmstead BERT OLMSTEAD SAYS THAT he could have had the New York Ranger coaching job this season, but that he preferred to gain at least two years experience as a coach in the high minors before tackling a major league assignment. Last year, the new Vancouver coach served as a special assistant to Ranger general manager Emile Francis. Now that Francis has taken the coaching reins from Red Sullivan, there is speculation that Bert will move up ahead of schedule next season. Vancouver general manager Max McNab says he called Francis and Emile said the change would not affect Olmstead now. Following are the latest player movements in hockey: NATIONAL LEAGUE BOSTON — Eddie Johnston, goalkeeper, recalled from Los Angeles of WHL. Derek Sanderson, forward, and Gilles Marotte, defenseman, called up from Niagara Falls of Junior OHA. Sanderson later returned. Don Marcotte, forward, returned to Niagara Falls after pro tryout.
