Bruins’ Ecstatic Over Performance Of New ‘BUG’ Line
BOSTON, Mass.— If Bruins’ rivals soon have to do some finger-walking through the yellow pages in search of an exterminator who can skate, it won’t be for fumigating purposes. True, in other years there has been a need to clear the air after some pretty inept Boston performances. But this season the Bruins have been spraying some pretty apt arguments for quitting the NHL cellar—thanks lately to an unlikely trio which club president Weston W. Adams have accurately termed “The Bug Line.” Individually, Reg Fleming, Forbes Kennedy, and Tommy Williams do not pack an excitable amount of hockey talent. But since Coach Milt Schmidt let them out of his battered mix-master in late November they’ve been the Bruins’ most-productive line. “They’re always “bugging somebody,” an ecstatic Adams declared. In games at Boston Garden during…

December Seen Tell-Tale Month For Rangers’ NHL Playoff Hopes
NEW YORK, N.Y. Like it or not, the Rangers must face up to the fact that December is make-or-break month for them. The special significance of December is dramatized by history, late Ranger history, circa 1964. As November rolled to a close last season, the Blues were rollicking along in third place astonishing critics with such amazing feats as routing the Maple Leafs on Madison Square Garden ice Thanksgiving Eve and performing other notable accomplishments. The future was as bright as a Ranger jersey. And then December came. By the time the month was over, the Blues had slumped to fifth place, a position from which they never recovered. So, when the Blues knocked off Boston on Thanksgiving Eve, this year nobody cared to recall the events of a year previous—until the following night when Rangers…

Ex-National Leaguer Pit Martin Puttina Stina In Hornets’ Attack
PITTSBURGH. Pa It is more, than just a coincidence that upon Pit Martin’s arrival the Pittsburgh Hornets embarked on a six game winning streak that still was intact as of the deadline date for this issue of the Hockey News. Martin joined the Hornets for their game with the Providence Reds on November 17th. It didn’t take him long to find the scoring range. With the contest tied at 1-1 in the first period, he tallied his initial goal which sparked the Wasps to an easy 6-1 victory. He later scored again. Five more wins in succession have followed that triumph and the Wasps, who had been floundering in losing five of their six previous games, now find themselves in the midst of a six game winning streak and a seven game unbeaten…
