Hull Limps Out, Hall Steps In To Spark Hawks

CHICAGO, Ill.— Those prophets of gloom and doom who predicted that the Black Hawks would lose valuable ground in their battle with Montreal for the league title while Bobby Hull rested his touchy left knee reckoned without considering a quiet, unassuming veteran who wears the hero’s mantle with considerable discomfort. To be sure, the Hawk attack suffered during the first four games they played after Hull’s departure. But Goalie Glenn Hall emerged from the Golden Jet’s huge shadow and saw to it personally that they lost only one of those four contests. In each victory, Glenn had to protect a one-goal margin through most of the final period and the lone loss was a 2-1 effort against the Canadiens.
