Interim Coach Hap Hanson Puts Life In Halifax Club
HALIFAX, N. S. The past few seasons the Chicago Cubs have waged their baseball diamond battles without the employment of a regular manager. It could be a good plan for other sports teams to adopt. At least that is the feeling in the camp of the Halifax Schooners of the Maritime Senior Hockey League. During the first six weeks of the 1964-65 season the Schooners stumbled along in the loop basement despite the efforts of coach Kelly Burnett to put a winning spark into the club. Just before the holiday season Burnett announced his resignation as Halifax coach to devote full time to his golfing duties in the city. Parenteau, Not Huck, Drawing Raves With Eye On Record 180-Point Finish
REGINA, Sask. With sportswriters and sportscasters across the country getting carried away with the thought of Chicago’s Bobby Hull scoring 60 or 65 goals this season and breaking an all-time NHL point record while he’s at it, little room is being left for a junior in the west who’s taking a run at a record of his own, and at a somewhat faster clip. While most admit he’s no Bobby Hull (and some say he’s not even a good Fran Huck) Dave Parenteau, a flashy centre with Flin Flon Bombers of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League is scoring three points a game.
