Cournoyer Finds Class In NHL Play
MONTREAL, Que. If present trends mean anything, the current hockey campaign could go down in history as “The Year of the Junior Grads.’’ A look at NHL player rosters shows no less than six kids making the jump directly from junior ranks to the big league this year. Chicago leads the parade with two of them, Dennis Hull and Fred Stanfield. The Leafs have Ron Ellis. Rangers and Boston have Rod Seiling and Ron Schock, respectively. And, the Canadiens have come up with Yvan Cournoyer. Just how many of these are going to be around when the season ends, remains to be seen.
