Bobby Hull Chicago Black Hawks Bobby Hull of Chicago Black Hawks, with seven goals in his last six games, is 10 goals ahead of the 1961-62 pace when he tied the National Hockey League record of 50 goals in one season. Hull scored tive goals in three games last week, including three in a row for a genuine ‘hat trick’ against Detroit. It was the sixth three-goal performance in the league this season and Hull’s second. He now has had 11 games in which he scored at least three times during his NHL career. Hull s five goals give him 28 for the season after 41 games, compared to 18 at the same stage in 1961-62. NEW YORK, N.Y.- Appalling as it may be to the Ranger clique that hates to arouse the opposition, the Blueshirts are on record now that they’re a better club than both the Boston Bruins and Detroit Red Wings. Following a one-sided rout of the Red Wings on Jan. 4th, the New Yorkers shed their diffidence and talked optimistically of the New Year. “We’re better than the Red Wings,” said Camille Henry who’s shooting for 30 goals and looks like he’ll make it. “The difference is we’ve got three lines who can score goals. “To beat the Wings we have to stop Gordie Howe — then we have a good chance to win.” The Rangers began closing the gap between themselves and Deitroit with four out of five wins prior to their traditional January road trip.…

Canucks Hurt By Losses Against Top NHL Teams MONTREAL, Que. — Though they’ve run into some pretty stormy weather against Chicago and Toronto, this season, the Canadiens still rank as a much improved club over what they were a year ago. As they headed into the second half of the schedule, Habs had more victories, more goals, a better power-play and a sharp increase in important ‘first’ goals to their credit. Figures supplied by club statistician Albert Trottier, and covering the first 36 games of the season, showed Habs setting a stronger overall pace than last year. Boston Group Plans To Honor 40 Members Of Hall Of Fame

BOSTON, Mass.,- BO Because Sam Co’hen thinks big. hockey will have a “night to remember” here next week. The occasion will be the annual awards dinner of the Boston Sports Lodge of B’nai B’rith, to be held in the grand ballroom of the Sheratdn-Copley Hotel Tuesday evening (Jan. 21). The honored guests of the lodge will be 40 of the 43 living members of the International Hockey Hall of Fame. It will be the first time the Hall of Famers have been assembled as a group and bringing them together represents a sizeable problem in logistics, as well as a sizeable outlay of money.
