REAUME NAMED TOP DEFENSEMAN
NEW YORK, N.Y.— Marc Reaume, smooth playing defense star of the Hershey Bears became a two-time winner of special honors in the American Hockey League for 1962-63 when he was voted the Eddie Shore Plaque as the loop’s putstanding defenseman. The voting was close, with Reaume receiving 18 out of a possible 45 points from the press, radio and television representatives from the nine league cities. Al Arbour of Rochester was second with 13 points while Bob McCord of Springfield finished third with 11, and Ian Cushenan of Buffalo fourth with 10. In all, 10 defensemen were considered. Tied for fifth were Aldo Guidolin of Baltimore and Fern Flaman of Providence, both playing coaches with 6 points each. DeJordy Handy Winner Of MVP Award In AHL
NEW YORK— Denis DeJordy, 24-year-old goal tender of the Buffalo Bisons has gained all of the possible awards for a player in his position by being selected as the American Hockey League’s Most Valuable Player for 1962-63. For his achievement, DeJordy will be presented with the Leslie Cunningham Plaque. He was previously chosen for the league’s first all star team, and also won the Harry (Hap) Holmes Memorial Trophy for having the best goaltending average for the season. With voting points from the league’s press, radio and television being awarded on a 5-3-1 basis for a first, second and third place choice, DeJordy had a clear cut margin over his closest rival in the balloting. He compiled 31 points out of a possible 45, with Hank Ciesla and Fred Glover, both of Cleveland following…
