OHA Rejects Interlocking Play With Toronto Metro
ST. CATHERINES, Ont— For the second straight year the Ontario Hockey Association junior “A” council has turned thumbs down on a complete interlocking schedule with the Toronto Metro junior “A” league. The metro loop, now in its second year of operation, had sought a home-and-home series with the long-established OHA league with the results of the games to count in both standings. Last season the OHA teams played single games against Toronto St. Michael’s and Toronto Marlboros in Maple Leaf Gardens but all fixtures were strictly exhibition. The junior “A” council, formed of franchise holders in the OHA league, informed the Metro League that they were interested only in playing games with Toronto Marlboros. (Toronto St. Michael’s withdrew this season and were replaced by Neil McNeil School of Toronto.) OHA spokesman Sammy Pollock, manager of…

Beavers Seek OK For Sawicki, Isbell
FORT WILLIAM, Ont.— The first hockey doubleheader ever played at the Fort William Gardens drew a crowd of seventeen hundred. The juniors and seniors have teamed up to play a number of junior senior doubleheaders through out the season. The juniors play the first game and the seniors the second. Fort William Beavers still can’t get clearance from Eddie Shore for Billy Isbell and Roger Sawicki. If they do get the go ahead it will make their club very strong up front. Bert Slivinski, president of the Thunder Bay Amateur Hockey Association announced a four-game suspension to coach Mickey Hennessey of the Fort William Canadian Juniors for his disrespect of the Thunder Bay Referee in Chief during a junior game. Port Arthur Bearcats have signed Barton Bradley, last year’s coach of the Dryden Rockets…

Hawks Knew ‘Big Ab’Had Potential When They Grabbed Him From Habs
CHICAGO, Illinois— Big Ab McDonald started on a goal scoring spree last December and hasn’t quit yet. The spurt carried right on into the Stanley Cup playoffs when he tallied six goals and has kept going over the first part of the current National Hockey League season. The six-foot, two-inch Chicago left wing didn’t get his first goal of the 1962-63 season until Chicago’s seventh game. Then he netted the puck seven times in the Hawks’ next 10 games. On two occasions he hit for two scores — against Montreal and New York. He added six assists during his hot streak to go with two he picked up in his first six games for a total of 15 points and one of the top spots in the NHL individual scoring race. “He’s getting the puck away…

Johnstown Wins 11 Straight At Home To Boast .863 Record For Four Years
JOHNSTOWN, Pa.— An almost invincible record on their home ice has vaulted the Johnstown Jets into a high ranking spot in the Eastern Hockey League's Northern Division. After dropping their home inaugural to Clinton, Butch Martin’s Jets have bounced back to win 11 consecutive home frays. This love for the home ice is not something new, according to Jet statisticians. Since the start of the 1959-60 season, the locals have played 140 home games including playoffs and have won 120, lost only 19 and tied 1. That gives the Jets a gaudy .863 percentage at home excluding the tie fray. Martin realizes his club will have; to fare better on the road to match this home record to stay in a contending position. Martin and Dick Roberge have been the club’s top pointmakers…
