Crozier Fearful Of Greensboro, Knoxville Works On Additions To Strengthen Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C.— Coach Joe Crozier of the Charlotte Checkers doesn’t believe in counting his chickens before they’re hatched, so despite his club’s good start, he is not through with his efforts to strengthen the team. The Checkers have moved away quickly from the post and have four less defeats than any other division rival and one less than Clinton, the Northern pace-setter. Yet after one month of action, Crozier still hasn’t suited up winger Ching Johnson, a veteran Western League point-maker. Nova Scotia Senior League Ready With Windsor As Fifth Starter

NEW GLASGOW. N.S.— The Nova Scotia Senior Hockey League will again operate as a five team circuit. Windsor Maple Leafs, who didn’t make a final decision until the day before the schedule opened, were set to go and were making last-minute arrangements to ice a team. Biggest controversy at the opener was expected on Bob Bowness, veteran forward who last year set a league record for assists in one season. Bowness, still the property of Windsor, was the announced-coach of the Halifax Tartans. At last report the Leafs were not letting him go and the Tartans were planning to keep him as a playing pilot. Another mixup surrounded the status of Dave MacLeod. He played with the New Glasgow Rangers last year and was ordered to report back to the club. However, he…
