Hicks Recovering After Operation

SCHUMACHER, Ont.— Greig Hicks of the Cleveland Barons is going to be able to resume his hockey career this fall. Some time ago it appeared as though he might be through as he suffered a serious eye injury, but two operations in Toronto’s Western Hospital have cleared up the trouble. It all started late in the American League campaign. Centering off against Providence, Hicks was struck in the eye when the puck bounced up and clipped him for two stitches. It wasn’t thought to be serious, but two weeks later he had almost lost the sight in the eye and had to undergo an immediate operation. Habs Shift Puck Camp To Victoria

MONTREAL, Que. Western fans who have been clamoring for ‘big league’ hockey will get their fill this fall. In an unprecedented move, National Hockey League teams will play as many as 12 games in the Golden West during the training camp season in September and October. There is also a strong possibility the number will be increased by another six games. Three of the six NHL teams — Montreal Canadiens, Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs — all plan to tour the west for exhibition warm-up games prior to the start of the regular NHL campaign Oct. 11. Hawks Stay In East Chicago Black Hawks, Boston and New York will train in the East and will play all their exhibitions here in Eastern Canada.
