Henry Not Ready To Quit Yet — 5 Years Before He Decides
— NEW YORK, N.Y.— Cmille Henry, sounding more like Mark Twain every day, announced that reports of his retirement were premature. “About ten years premature,” the Ranger left wing quipped. Although temporarily sidelined with a broken left hand—broken in the identical spot as last season’s break—Henry Was optimistic about his return to the Ranger line-up. And light-hearted to boot. “I hope the boys are in fourth place by the time I return,” said Henry, “so I won’t have to work so hard.” The NHL’S original skating eel said he expected to be playing by January 8th. No Ice, Just Grass; Grice Team Picks Wings As Name
DETROIT, Mich. — Red Wing publicity man Elliott Trumbull received a request for 10 of the club’s winged wheeled designs, a not too unusual request in the publicity worker’s line. But the request came from Morden, Surrey, England. And for a “Grice Hockey” team. The writer, Douglas S.J. Sims, said, naturally, that the Red Wings are his favorite team after seeing them play in Toronto in the 1956 Stanley Cup semi-finals. So he’s calling his team the Fulham Red Wings. Sims said that since there was little ice and few rinks, they play hockey on grass using ice-hockey sticks and rules hence the “grice.” Trumbull didn’t receive any word on whether they use a puck or a ball.…

ROYALS SIGN HOGAN Donald Jamas Hogan, 29-year-old right wingar who was choppad by Quebec Aces of fho AHL was signed on by Royals last week. A native of Arnprier, Ont., Hogan graduated from North Bay Trappers to Cleveland Barons. JANKOWSKI ON TOI Lou Jankewski, of Calgary, took over first place in the individual scoring race with 40 points on 23 goals and 17 assists. Ron Leopold follows with 22 goals and 16 assists for 38 points. Jankowski’s 23 goals are tops for the goal getters. Guyle Fielder, of Seattle, assisted in his I 600th goal in W.H.L. regular league play Sunday night in Seattle. He has 24 assists to date which is tops in the league.
