MONTREAL, Que.— Montreal hockey fans, who have supported their club in a manner which no other sports fan can boast, may be getting ready to run Vezina Trophy winner Jacques Plante out of town, just as they have other goalers in the past. It was these same fans who chanted ‘We want Bibeault’ when the great Bill Durnan had a bad night. When Gerry McNeil went sour they screamed for Plante. Who will they start screaming for now that Plante has gone sour ? Two Division Race Threatens In SJHL
SASKATOON, Sask.— They’ve began separating the men from the boys in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League, and Estevan, Regina and Melville have ended up wearing the long pants. The three front-runners are threatening to make a shambles of the seven-team league, and between them, have lost as few as eight games in 36 starts. Of those defeats, the clubs involved have taken care of six themselves. Estevan, the leaders by two points, have dropped close decisions to Regina and Melville. The Pats have been beaten twice by Melville and once by Estevan. The only outsider to distrub the monopoly of the “Big Three’ has been Moose Jaw Canucks, the fourth-place club that has taken the measure of Melville’s Moneymen on two occasions.
