Greensboro Admitted To Eastern Ice Loop
GREENSBORO, N.C.— This city of 90,000 is the latest one to be granted a franchise in the wonderful world of hockey. And the bug is expected to bite hard. As usual. Greensboro became the seventh team to be added to the Eastern Hockey League and is the second city in the state of North Carolina to join the EHL. The other team in this state is the Charlotte Clippers. Ironically, that was the last city before Greensboro to be granted an EHL franchise. It was three years ago. Hockey people here—they are new at the game, but hopeful are expecting the ice sport to catch on, but good. The first two years the Clippers were in action they set all kinds of gate records. The public just didn’t take to the series and it proved a financial flop. Made History Dunlops also became the first team to win the cup the…

Montreal Gazette Attitude Only Detriment To New York Owners; Ace Scorer Kept Going Despite Many Injuries MONTREAL, Que.— Andy Bathgate, the New York Rangers’ ace right-winger, is the winner of the Hart Trophy, which goes to the player adjudged to be most valuable to his team. He scored 40 goals and picked up 48 assists far 88 total points, which made him a valuable man for the Broadway Blueshirts, though they failed to make the playoffs. Back last January we asked Muzz Patrick, the Rangers’ general manager, if he would trade Bathgate even-up to the Detroit Red Wings for Gordie Howe. Muzz had already gone on record as proclaiming Howe the best hockey player in the league, and this looked like a chance to have some fun. “Now I’d have to think about that,” he…
