Army, who weighs less and works more than in other recent camps, and Olmstead, noted for his heady aggressive play, have set the pace as expected with the desired effect on Mahovlich. Imlach Promises All-Out Battle With Canadiens For Quebec Kids
PETERBOROUGH, Ont.—Take it from new Toronto Maple Leafs’ assistant general manager Punch Imlach, there is going to be an untying of juniors in the Province of Quebec. Imlach, here for the Leafs’ training camp says the Canadiens are tying up all the Quebec junior clubs except in the Lake St. John area. The area he talked about is close to Chicoutimi, where the Leafs have a working agreement with the Chicoutimi Sagueneens of the Quebec Hockey League. “We’re going to fight them on their own grounds,” said Punch, “We can’t afford to let Canadiens sew up Quebec.” “I know we can’t outbid Canadiens but maybe if we give the clubs financial and coaching assistance we may break the Canadiens’ stranglehold.” Imlach, who was general manager of the Springfield Indians of the American Hockey League…
