Gord Takes 105 Of Possible 180 Points, Andy 2nd With 70
MONTREAL, Que.— Big Gordie Howe of the Detroit Red Wings is the winner of the Hart Throphy for 1957-58. This marks the second year in a row that the All-Star right winger has captured this award and the fourth time in his outstanding NHL career. Howe polled 105 points out of a possible 180 in winning the trophy which is presented annually to “the player adjudged to be most valuable to his team.” Andy Bathgate, right winger star of the new York Rangers, finished second in the voting with 70 points, while Montreal Canadiens’ defenseman Doug Harvey finished third Harvey polled 41 points. A total of 17 players received one or more points in balloting for the Hart Trophy, which is considered the outstanding individual trophy awarded by the National Hockey League. Players…
