BOSTON, Mass.— For nearly three months the management of the Boston Bruins threatened changes unless the National League’s second-best team played up to its possibilities. During that time nothing happened. either in the way of changes by the management or improvement by the team. But when the Bruins’ brain trust of Manager Lynn Patrick and Coach Milt finally did act they didn’t go halfway. In the short space of several days they made these moves: Purchased Goalie Harry Lumley from the Chicago Black Hawks to replace Al Millar as the substitute for the injured Don Simmons. Gordon, Glover Close In On Thurier’s Goal, Points Mark

CLEVELAND. O. — With a total of 4 19 assists for his American Hockey League career, including the game of January 15, playing coach Jackie Gordon of the Cleveland Barons quite possibly will set a new all time assist record this season, surpassing the present mark of 425: And if assist number 426 for a new record should occur in Cleveland, tike present holder, Freddie Thurier, most likely will be a witness as his long time mark falls. Thurier. who also holds the all time totals for the other two scoring departments of 319 goals and 74 4 points, has been a linesman in Cleveland since liis retirement from the playing ranks. Interlocking Schedule For EHL, IHL Possible In ‘58-59

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — A plan to play a limited interlocking schedule between the Eastern Amateur Hockey League and the International Hockey League was ratified by EHL club owners last week. If the interlocking schedule is adopted the games will count in league standings. The plan was advanced first at a meeting of EHL and IHL club owners in Pittsburgh last Septemebr. IHL club owners have not yet acted on it. They will meet Feb. 15. Under the proposal, unanimously approved by owners, each team would play one home game and one away game with each IHL team. Washington. Philadelphia, Charlotte, N.C., Clinton, N.Y., New Haven, Conn., and Johnstown, Pa., make up the EHL. The IHL cities are Cincinnati, Troy, N.Y., Fort Wayne, Ind., Louisville, Ky., and Indianapolis.…

Two Hat Tricks Claude Laforge of Shawinigan and Jean Marie Cossette of Quebec Aces both scored hat tricks on Sunday. January 26. Laforge got his in a 7-6 win and Cossette in a 7-1 victory.
