Mates Tip On Hurrying Shots Puts Bucyk In Scoring Race

BOSTON, Mass.— The correction of a shooting fault may make Johnny Bucyk of the Boston Bruins one of the National League’s big scorers. The fault is a tendency on the part of the broad-beamed left wing to hurry his shots. His linemates, Broneo Horvath and Vic Stasiuk, figure that the hurrying habit has cost Bucyk more than a dozen goals already this season. But young Johnny has been indicating of late that he is shaking the habit. Grizzly Bears Overtime Champs

HERSHEY, Pa.— The Hershey Bears are making a specialty of not losing overtime games this season. In fact, the AHL pace-setters have lost only one out of eight extra period clashes in which they have engaged in to date. Frank Mathers’ skaters show four wins, three ties and a lone defeat, with the only loss coming at the hands of the Cleveland Barons during Johnny Bower’s recent record-smashing white-wasihing streak. The pesky Springfield Indians have been the Bears’ roughest overtime opponent, forcing the Hershey ice men into three extra period deadlocks. Two “hat” tricks, one by Len Haley, the sensational rookie right winger, which edged Providence, 6-5. and another by the veteran Dune Fisher, which gave the Bears a 5-4 triumph over the same Reds, played important roles in helping the Hershey club…
