”All Shook Up” Leafs Plan Assault On First Division
TORONTO, Ont. — Billy Reay has discovered that the “Shake well before using” directions on patent medicine bottles work equally well in remedying ailing hockey teams. With one third of the season gone and his Toronto Maple Leafs sinking deeper into the National HockeyLeague cellar, the rookie coach prescribed such a cure for Leafs and abruptly snapped their worst slump of a generally fruitless season. REAY’S SHAKEUPS First, he ordered the team itself to start shaking the opposition with heavier bodychecks. Lose Jones New Westminster picked up high scoring Art Jones after last season, and his loss is a big one. Regina’s Bryan Whittal is filling in exceedingly…

When such recognized hockey authorities as Ken Reardon, Lynn Patrick, Bobby Bauer and Joe Primeau watched the Russians work out at Toronto, prior to their opening game against the Allan Cup champions and Canada’s representatives at the 1958 world tourney, Whitby…
