Form Falls By Wayside As Quebec Takes 3-2 Lead Against Chicks

QUEBEC, Que.— Form has been taking a backward seat in the current Quebec-Chicoutimi best-of-seven Quebec Hockey League final. Aces… The Aces, who ran roughshod over all opposition in regular season play, disposed of the Trois-Rivieres Lions in four straight games in the semi-final. And the way they started out against Chicoutimi in the final, it looked as if they might go all the way to the Edinburgh Trophy finals against either New Westminster or Brandon undefeated. But Phil Renaud’3 Chicks weren’t to be relegated that easily. After dropping the opener, 4-2, the Chicks bounced back for a 6-3 victory to tie up the series. MONTREAL, Que.— The Stanley Cup is still in Montreal, in proud possession of a colorful, dauntless band of puck chasers known as the Montreal Canadiens. They retained it with a rousing, clean-up and decisive triumph over the Boston Bruins in a final that went only five games. All the frustrations of a season in which the Habs lost their National Hockey League pennant to the Red Wings, their bitter rivals from Detroit, were obliterated in the final game at the Forum before a crowd of 15,286. the largest of the season. Canadiens won that one 5-1 and a vicious, hard-checking, high-sticking affray it was—the roughest game of the set.
