Seven Hornets Now Officially listed On Hershey Koster

HERSHEY, Pa.— John B. Sollenberger, president of the Hershey Hockey Club, has announced that the much discussed deal with the Pittsburgh Hockey Club has been finally consumated and brings to the Hershey Bears the following players: Gil Mayer, 26-year-old goaltender, who has been the AHL’s top netminder for four of his seven seasons in the league. He has-carried off the Harry Holmes Memorial Trophy in 1950-51, 1952-53, 1954-55 and 1955-56 for turning in the lowest goals allowed average. Last year he registered 2.70. Jack Price, a 20-year-old defenseman, played in 46 games with the Chicago Black Hawks of the National Hockey-League, scored six goals and 12 assists last season. Second Best Scorer Willie Marshall, 24, a center, was the AHL’s second best individual scorer last year, registering 15 goals and 52 assists for a total…

MILT SCHMIDT is counting on Doug Mohns becoming a regular member of the Boston Bruins’ defense corps this coming season. Lumley And Rollins Will Battle It Out For Hawk Job

CHICAGO, Ill.— Contrary to what might be considered as normal suspicions, Harry Lumley and Al Rollins will not share the Black Hawk goaltending task this coming season, “it will have to be one or the other,” announces General Manager Tommy Ivan. This should make for an interesting situation at Chicago’s training camp which opens at St. Catharines, Ont., for three weeks or more on September 17. A netminder of NHL record seldom is required to fight for his job with another gentleman of similar stature. It is a matter that should be completely good for the club as a whole, however, for the goalie that eventually makes the grade will have done so only after a genuine battle which is what most of the skaters in front of him have also had to…

Puck Star And Pretty Bride

EDDIE LONG OF OTTAWA, Ontario, right winger of the Fort Wayne Komets hockey team of the International Hockey League, was married to Miss Gayle Michelle on Saturday, June 30th at St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
