New York, N.Y.— Carlo Cattarello of South Porcupine, Ont., was responsible for getting Dean Prentice linked in the New York Ranger chain. Blues’ chief scout in Northern Ontario, Cattarelio coached the South Porcupine Juveniles to the All-Ontario Juvenile title in 1949-50. Jacques Plante Hits 100 Mark In NHL Gaines
MONTREAL, Que.— Almost unnoticed in the excitement caused by the Montreal Canadiens’ second long winning streak of the current season was the fact that Jacques Plante, the roving netminder, played his 100th regular National Hockey League game. That was on Dec. 10 against the Bruins and Plante celebrated by never straying more than 20 feet from his corded cage. He’s Helped HERSHEY, Pa— The fortunes of the Hershey Bears are looking up, thanks to a combination of happy circumstances. The Bears were floundering around, unable to put together two good games in a row, when Hershey and the Boston Bruins engineered an exchange of players in the hope of snapping both of their losing streaks. Then, with the addition of Lome Davis and Ed. Panagabko from the Bruins, coach Murray Henderson’s skaters won two of their ‘next three games, and, at the time this piece was written, had their first winning streak going. Meanwhile, with the Bears lifting their sights on fifth place, their chances of deserting the AHL cellar received further impetus when captain Obie O’Brien, who had been sidelined for three weeks with a hip injury, returned to the lineup. Rookie winger…
