OHA ‘Dogs Hope To Sign NHL Veteran Gus Bodnar Before Dec. 15 Deadline
STRATFORD. Ont.— Kitchener Dutchmen continue to lead the pack in the senior “A” OHA series by a comfortable margin of seven points after the past week’s firing, while Windsor Bulldogs took over second place from the Stratford Indians by one point, and Owen Sound Mercurys are another single point in fourth place. On the strength of two victories at home, while losing one away, Chatham Maroons give every indication of improving under their new coach, Murph Chamberlain. Windsor and Chatham made the best gains, winning a pair while losing but one, the Bulldogs doing it the hard way by defeating Mercurys at Owen Sound, 6-4, the first time Windsor has chalked up a victory at Owen Sound since the Bulldogs entered the league. Former Minnesota Copher Jim Mattson Makes Grade As Komets Coal Guardian
FT. WAYNE, Indiana.— Who is Jimmy Mattson, you ask? That’s easy. He’s the unheralded but slightly remarkable goal-tender of the Ft. Wayne Komets in the International Hockey League. He’s the fellow who arrived in Ft. Wayne without fanfare and perhaps without too much confidence in staying around very long. But, the way it looks right now, young Mattson is very apt to be around these parts for quite some time, unless his goal-tending feats earn him a professional contract. Amsrican-born hockey players are few and far between, but that’s exactly what Mattson is. Moreover, Jimmy came to Ft. Wayne directly from the University of Minnesota, where he had been a member of the Gopher hockey team as a student at that school.
