Seattle Games To Be Telecast
SEATTLE, Wash.— Professional hockey returns to Seattle with Billy Reay at the helm of the new Seattle Americans hockey team. Channel 13 will televise all 35 home games, direct from the Civic Ice Arena, a service that started Saturday, Oct. 8. Games will start at 8:00 p.m., and KTVW will carry them each Wednesday and Saturday night until the end of the season. Bob Field, considered one of the top hockey authorities and one of the top-rated hockey broadcasters in the Pacific Northwest will handle play-by-play. Field, a former hockey player, is well-known in Puget Sound for his radio broadcasts of the Tacoma Rockets hockey games from 1946 to 1951. His thorough knowledge of the game, the teams and arenas will contribute greatly to the action telecasts of the Seattle Americans on Channel…

Reardon Hits Paydirt, Signs McAvoy To Reds
PROVIDENCE, R.I.— George McAvoy, the outstanding player on the world championship Penticton hockey team of Canada, he reported to the RI Reds in Providence. In one of the moest opportune moves ever made in the 30-year history of the Reds, General Manager Terry Reardon signed McAvoy to a 1955-56 American Hockel League contract after the two met in a hotel in Montreal. Coming at a time when the Reds have been searching everywhere for defensive help, McAvoy gives the Jack Crawford forces a 23-year-old defenseman who is known for his ability to play the back-line exceptionally well.
