A victory in Montreal for the Red Wings in the succeeding game (April 12) would have given them the series, four games to two. But is wasn’t in the books for the series to end that Way. Carried to a seventh and deciding game by a stubbern band of Montreal Canadiens, the Detroit Red Wings still managed to walk off with their second straight Stanley Cup, mostly on the strength of a two goal effort by their starry young centre, Alex Delvecchio.
