OHA Bulldogs Win Six, Tie One Since Acquiring Vet George Gee

STRATFORD, Ont.— Windsor Bulldogs are setting a torrid pace in the senior “A”. OHA race since the veteran George Gee was released by the Chicago Black Hawks and signed with Windsor. In their seven games since Gee donned a uniform the Bulldogs won six and tied one, and in doing so defeated the league-leading Kitchener Dutchmen, Stratford Indians and Chatham Maroons twice each and tied Stratford once. Following the Dec. 15 deadline for designating their 19-piayer roster for the balance of the season, Chatham Maroons stood pat, but Niagara Falls Cataracts and Stratford Indians made several changes. The Fallsers signed Harvey Jacklin and Lloyd Ferguson, members of the disbanded Hamilton Tigers of last season, while the Indians swapped homebrew centreman Jackie White to the Dutchmen for defenceman Art Hurst and wingers Charlie…

• ALTHOUGH BILL QUACKENBUSH is of Dutch descent, he is naming his twin sons Bruce and Scott, names as Scottish as the heather…Bill, incidentally, has been playing great hockey on the Bruins’ defense of late. I thrive on work. The longer I play the better I feel, the blond defense-man remarked recently. The 32-year-old Quackenbush started the season very slowly and many figured he was at end of the trail…As I get older it takes me longer to get in shape, he Panted out. “Once I get into shape my timing improves and that’s the whole secret of effective checking.
