• VALLEYFIELD—Arthur Vinet, president of the Braves, has been quite upset over the adverse publicity his team and the Valleyfield rink have received in the past few days. Tuesday night QHL refree Bill Roberta was hit on the head by a puck thrown, from the seats in the late minutes of the game between Braves and Ottawa Senators. Kayoed for a long count, Roberts was helped off the ice. “I don’t think the fellow aimed to hit anybody”, said Vinet here last night. “It was just unfortunate that Roberts was struck on the head. We were happy that his injury wasn’t more serious, but tills sort of thing has been going on in other places besides Valleyfield. I could bring up cases where chairs were thrown on the ice, but that doesn’t…

VANCOUVER, B.C.— Several months ago there was a popular song hit called, “They’re talking about the Jones boy.” In Saskatoon it’s not the Jones boy but the Bentleys—Max and Doug—whom Quaker fans are happily serenading, with fabulous Maxwell Herbert Lloyd Bentley far outshining Eddie Fisher. Max, the Dipsy-Doodle Dandy from Delisle, Saskatchewan, returned to the Hub city and the WHL November 4th with a terrific fan fare. The Quakers had just returned home from a disastrous coast trip, losing four straight, extending their winless skein to five games and they were in the cellar with only three wins in 12 games. Max’s first game at home was against Vancouver. One of hockey’s all time greats didn’t disappoint the more than 5,000 fans who packed the Saskatchewan arena to see him strut his stuff.…
