STRATFORD, Ont.— On the strength of consecutive 5-0 and 11-0 shutouts over Niagara Falls Cataracts and Chatham Maroons in their first two scheduled games, the champion senior “A” OHA. Vic Stasiuk Called Up By Wings
Vic Stasiuk, right-winger with the Edmonton Flyers of the Western Hockey League, is bound for Detroit today, all set for a try-out with the parent Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League. The reason? It’s felt that Stasiuk’s ability (he stood ninth in the WHL individual scoring race with seven goals and six assists when the call came) will come plenty handy to the NHL champions, who are currently second to Montreal Canadiens by three points in the NHL race. As a replacement for Stasink, Edmonton will get from the Wings Don Poile, Bud’s brother who last season won the WHL’s rookie of the year award while playing with the Flyers.
