Boucher’s Big Line Gives Senators Punch
OTTAWA, Ont.— While distractions like bingo and wrestling were keeping Buck Boucher’s Ottawa Senators idle in a hockey sense, front office gentry were working overtime signing talent…in this case Phil Maloney, centerman who gave the Senators such a boost last season. Blocked during the early part of last week from practising because of the obovementioned indoor “sports”. Boucher’s boys were hard at it later in preparation for their Quebec Hockey League opener against Montreal Royals, and the addition of Maloney, a neat playmaker who has always been something of an ice general lent the Ottawans noticeable strength. Creighton Survives 10-Day T-Zone Test, Starts To Look Good
TORONTO, Ont— Dave Creighton made a 10-day T-Zone test. From the results of it a chap doesn’t need a meerschaum pipe and Sherlock Holmes badge to conclude that Leafs made a better deal than even Leafs had believed when they dispatched Fern Flaman and cash to Boston Bruins in return for Creighton’s contract. Here are the results of the T (for Toronto) zone test. 1. Creighton can score goals. He led all Leafs through an exhibition schedule of seven games in seven days. 2. He can patrol his position well and helped keep the enemy scoreless every time he…

Vancouver Gets McCreary
GUELPH, Ont.—Guelph Biltmores of the Ontario Junior Hockey League are resigned to losing the services of their star player, but they don’t intend to let him go without compensation from New York Rangers. Billy McCreary, 20-year-old left winger, has received a “very attractive” offer from the Western Hockey League’s Vancouver Canucks, a farm club of the National Hockey League Rangers. Roy Mason, general manager of the Biltmores, said Wednesday: “We have a chance to purchase a top flight junior player who would be a suitable replacement for McCreary but his asking price is high. “We’ve put a lot of money into McCreary for the last three years and can’t afford to lose him without moving to keep up the team’s strength.”…
