Veteran Stu Smith Named MVP Of Eastern League
OTTAWA— Stu Smith, veteran Smiths Falls forward and former Ottawa Senator star in the Quebec League, last week was awarded the Viscountess Alexander Trophy as the most valuable player in the Eastern Canada League. The trophy is awarded annually by the league on the basis of a vote taken among the coaches. It was first donated in 1948 by Her Excellency Lady Alexander. It has been a great season for the Smiths Falls veteran. Earlier, he captured the ECHL scoring honors by staging a great spurt in the last weekend of play. This is a promotional quirk over which the GardenArena capacity of 7,200, are in the Garden, while Tommy control the beautiful swan dive its regular tenants the Bruins, have performed in the past fortnight. Not since the 1950 Red Sox had a pennant in the palm of their hand and blew it with two weeks to travel has the town witnessed a load of coal going so fast down the chute. The Red Sox were betrayed by their youth, just as the Bruins of the moment…
