More Scoring Way to Better Hockey Says Ref-In-Chief

NEW YORK, N.Y.— Frank Boucher-, who helps make the rules, and Car1 Voss, who as referee-in-chief helps see that they are enforced, are agreed what is wrong with major league hockey. They want to give the attack a greater edge over the defense, so that higher scores will result Speaking first at a hockey writers’ luncheon here, Voss complained of the lack of goals in the NHL. “The fans want more scoring, just as they do in other sports,” he said. “Why, after a recent 7 to 5 game in Toronto, I was told that was the best game there in the last five years. Note these facts: In…

Last season a team could drop from first to last place with the loss of one game—they were that closely bunched. But gradually this season some clubs are beginning to show their superiority and others are falling off the pace. Scotty Munro’s Humboldt Indians have latched onto the top spot and seem destined to hold it for the balance of the campaign. The Flin Flon Bombers, tough to beat in those weekend doubleheaders on their home ice, are in second place but they have some stiff assignments on the road ahead of them. The Saskatoon Wesleys are on Flin Flon’s heels but the lowly Prince Albert Mintos are…
