DETROIT. Mich.— Manager Jack Adams gave an assist to Detroit fans who often have to work fast to become familiar with some of the new names which pop into the Red Wing lineup. Minor-league hockey is not followed closely in these parts so when Adams makes one of his frequent grabs into the farm system for a new player, the rookie comes in a complete unknown. There were four this year. No one locally ever had heard of Glen Hall, Lou Jankowski, Jim (Red Eye) Hay or Marcel Bonin until a day or so before they made their debuts. MONTREAL, Que.— It wasn’t too many months ago that the Canadiens were gloating over a one-sided 9-0 wallopping they administered to the Champion Detroit Red Wings. Little did they realize they would get the feeling from the other side of the fence before the season was over. It took the lowly New York Rangers to gain revenge for the high and mighty Wings. They steamrollered over the Habs in Madison Square Garden last Sunday night to the tune of 7-0.
