Rocket Now a Play-Maker, Six Behind His Best Year

MONTREAL, Que.— The greatest scorer in the history of hockey has turned play-maker and on him it looks good. Ever since Elmer Lach suffered a broken thumb, the famed Rocket has had to turn elsewhere for his points and since he was without “The Great Provider”, Richard decided that he’d fulfill that role until Elmer returned. A close look at the latest National Hockey League statistics reveals that Richard is leading the league in assists with 29 helpings to his credit. Egan Grateful For Pardon

Pat Egan expressed thanks to the presidents of two American league teams when informed that his suspension for alleged-ly striking two officials had been lifted. The recipients of the Providence Reds’ captain’s gratitude were Lon Pieri, president of the Reds, and John Harris, who runs the Pittsburgh Hornets. I’ll always be grateful to Mr. Pieri and Mr. Harris for the way they went to bat for me,” declared Egan, who lives in West Roxbury. “I’m sure they’re responsible for the lifting of the suspension.” Egan, who estimated that his enforced two months’ layoff would cost him approximately $2800, was Jubilant when the announcement was made by Emory Jones, American League president.…
