(of The Detroit News) DETROIT, Mich.— Bone chips are back in Terry Sawchuk’s right arm. They’re a nuisance, and he went through two operations during the last two summers to have similar chips removed, but the net result is that his arm feels about the same as it has during his two previous NHL seasons. He was a brilliant success in both those campaigns. Occasionally the Red Wing goalie feels a shot of pain in the elbow, when the chips shift about, but this is rare. He can’t lift the arm over his head, but he never could, since a childhood accident.
