HALIFAX, N.S.— Greatest change in the Maritime Major (Big Four) Hockey League is in Halifax, where they have new directors and backers, new faces and even a new name. From now on it will be Halifax Atlantics. The Saint Mary’s tag is gone. A whole new organization has taken over with former sole backer Col. Victor Oland one of the many behind scenes. The Halifax team almost didn’t run. Two months ago Oland startled city fans with the announcement that he no longer could devote the time to the running of a major league club. He needed assistance. For a fortnight it looked as if the team would drop out. Then another businessman came into the breach and hasty plans were made. Rocket Fined

VALLEYFIELD, Que.—Maurice (The Rocket) Richard was fined $10 and costs for assaulting a policeman here on October 22. The Canadiens were in Valleyfield to play an exhibition game against the Braves when the incident occurred. Richard did not appear in court but a plea of guilty was entered by his lawyer, Gontran St. Onge.…
