One Coach Returns To Western Loop

SEATTLE.—Only one coach who started the 19 51-52 season in the P.C.H.L. will be back in that position at the start of this season. Murray ‘Muzz’ Patrick, coach and general manager of the Tacoma Rockets will be starting his fifth season as coach of that club. Two other coaches, who finished in that capacity with their clubs last spring are back, Doug. Bentley of the Saskatoon Quakers, winners of the President’s Cup and Hank Blade of the Calgary Stampeders. Back in his old stand, altho he did not coach last season, is the one and only Babe Pratt with the New Westminster Royals. New to coaching in this league are: Art Chapman of Vancouver Canucks. Wings’ New ‘C’ DETROIT, Mich.— Some unscheduled fireworks in the “Captain Department” appear inevitable this season for fans who watch the Red Wings in action. New captain of the Detroit club is Ted Lindsay. He was appointed three days before the campaign started by Manager Jack Adams, and the choice was a logical one. Chief duty of a hockey captain is to act as the team’s spokesman on the ice in all deal-lings with referees and other officials. Now in all hocekey there is no man who has more natural and deeper distrust, suspicion or contempt for referees than Lindsay.
