Boucher Still Puzzled Over Waiver Case
GUELPH, Ont.—With Edgar Laprade back in New York Rangers’ fold, Frank Boucher is breathing easier but he is still mystified at the procedure which, saw Laprade claimed by Chicago Black Hawks when the Port Arthur player was placed on waivers by NHL president larence Campbell. Boucher contended from the start that waivers were not necessary because Laprade personally requested to be placed on Volutarily Retired List. “If our club had requested that he be retired I would have been able to understand it”, a puzzled Boucher said. “But we’ve been coaxing him to retune. If a player is determined to retire I don’t know what on earth can be done about it.” When the NHL governors met in New York they supported Campbell’s stand in asking for waivers but Chicago was persuaded…
