Saskatoon-Edmonton If you can go on season records, these clubs appear to be very evenly matched with the Quakers holding a one game edge. These teams played 20 games against one another this season, the Quakers winning 8, Edmonton 7 and five ended in a tie. Saskatoon outscored the Flyers by a narrow margin 73 goals to 64. Tacoma-Seattle Tacoma has the best record of any of the clubs over their first opponent. The Rockets won 10 lost six and tied 2 of the 18 games played between themselves and the Ironmen. WINNIPEG, Man. — Letellier Maple Leafs winners over the Winnipeg Maroons, made short work of the Flin Flon Bombers. In Manitoba Senior play. They eliminated them in two straight games by score of 10-5 and 11-6. They will now meet the Fort Frances Canadians winners of the Thunder Bay league, who after dropping the first three games came storming back to take the next four. Dauphin Kings after winning the Western Manitoba Big Six Intermediate crown, then beat Carman in a two game series by a wide margin in the semi-final. Crawford Retires to Hub and Education for Kids
HERSHEY, Pa.— Co-incident with the elimination of the Hershey Bears from the American Hockey League’s Calder Cup playoffs by the Pittsburgh Hornets, Johnny Crawford, coach of the Bears for the past two seasons, announced his retirement from nrofessional hockev. Crawford revealed that he plans to devote his full time to his Summer occupation of selling paper products for a New England concern. He also explained that he was motivated by a desire to provide better schooling for his children, pointing out that for the past two seasons he had had to puli them in and out of Hershey and West Yarmouth, Mass, schools three times during the school year. “I think it’s time I settled down and gave the kids a chance for a real education,” he said, “And then, don’t forget, a…
