Doc Cops US HL Scoring Crown With Big Assist From Kids Of Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE, Wis.— Len (Doc) Haldorsen, 30, forward and captain of the Tulsa Oilers is the new scoring champion of the United States Hockey league—with an assist from Red Hamill and his Milwaukee Sea Gulls. Haldorsen nosed out Kansas City’s “torpedo twins,” Cal Stearns and Ike Hildebrand, by scoring 2 assists, in his team’s final game at St. Paul. He finished with a total of 94 points. Stearns and Hildebrand each had 92 points. The three had the race to themselves for the last month. Stearns and Hildebrand played their Red Hamill last two games against Milwaukee—at Kansas City Saturday night and at Milwaukee Sunday. A.H.L. Playoff Highlights
NEW YORK, N.Y.— The American Hockey League Calder Cup Playoffs have continued to provide the same type of exciting wide open play which is characteristic of the circuit in its regular season games. Rollins Wins $$ But Sharing It Is Up To Smythe
TORONTO. Ont.— Joe Primeau, who as coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs grins from his toes to the part in his hair when he is happiest, grinned a grin to end them all as he chatted with Doc Romnes after the game in Boston on March 25. “Well,” he said, when he could get the corners of his mouth to articulate, “we achieved both our objectives.” Those objectives were the Vezina Trophy for Al Rollins and the 30th goal of the season for Sid Smith. Now picture Rollins and Smith when they knew those objectives were theirs. Rollins, the lean goalie, skated slowly out from his net, not to accept the congratulations of his mates so much as to thank them for the fine work they did for him in stopping Bruins who…
